Half-Quaked
In this ‘ground-breaking’ comedy, an earthquake looms as an anxious journalist improvises through the misadventures of making her first documentary.
“Half-Quaked” is an improvised mockumentary structured much like a variety show. Created by Casey Pfeifer and Rochelle Muzquiz, the film features improvised interviews with five main characters (all developed and portrayed by Casey), interspersed with vlog-like vignettes and spoof ads (played by a cast of talented Portland actors). Rochelle plays the role of Roberta Aquilar, the journalist conducting these interviews in an attempt to channel her anxiety about the impending west coast earthquake into something productive.
“Half-Quaked” won Best Comedy in the 2019 Oregon Independent Film Festival in addition to being nominated for Best Picture.
